Stingrays are tamable aquatic mobs.

Spawning[edit | edit source]

Stingrays spawn naturally in water between layers 46 and sea level.

Drops[edit | edit source]

Stingrays drop nothing other than 1–3 experience when killed by a player or tamed wolf.

Behavior[edit | edit source]

Stingrays swim in around in water, occasionally appearing to hide in blocks that lie at the bottom of the water. They are neutral mobs, and will poison the player if they get too close or attack it; in response to being provoked, a stingray will lift its tail and also poison the player who came into contact with the stingray.

A stingray cannot poison the player if they are riding an entity, such as a boat or horse, or if they are on land.

Like other water mobs, stingrays will begin to suffocate and take damage when exposed to land, and eventually die.

Taming[edit | edit source]

A stingray can be tamed or by using a fish net on a stingray. When tamed, they are passive and will not poison you.
